Frequently asked questions
- Why is 500 KB a good default?
- It's the email sweet spot. Almost every mail system accepts it without complaint, and most documents — including moderately scanned ones — reach it with little visible change. If you have no specific limit to hit, this is usually the target to pick.
- Will scanned pages still look good?
- Generally yes. 500 KB leaves enough room that scanned text stays legible and photographs inside the document keep their shading. This is the point where compression stops being a visible trade-off for most files.
- How many pages can fit in 500 KB?
- For a text document, hundreds. For scanned pages, realistically somewhere between five and twenty depending on how they were captured — a phone photo of a page costs far more than a proper flatbed scan.
- What happens to my PDF?
- It's sent to our server to compress, processed in a private temporary folder that's deleted the moment your download is ready — nothing is stored.
