Compress a PDF to 1MB

Shrink a PDF to roughly 1MB. Set your target and Squishly's deep engine searches for the setting that fits — text stays selectable, and every result comes with a Proof of Fidelity report.

Pro

Strongest compression, and it keeps any existing text selectable and searchable. Note: a scanned or image-only PDF has no text layer, so it stays image-only (that needs OCR).

Frequently asked questions

When should I choose 1 MB instead of a smaller target?
When the document matters more than the megabytes — a contract with signatures, an ID scan, a portfolio, anything where softening would be a problem. Almost every PDF reaches 1 MB, so it's the safe choice when you want compression without risk.
Is 1 MB small enough to email?
Yes. Every mainstream mail provider accepts attachments far above 1 MB, so a 1 MB PDF sends without trouble. Smaller targets are only necessary when a specific upload form demands them.
What if my PDF is already under 1 MB?
Then there's little to gain — you'd be discarding quality for no practical benefit. Compression is worth doing when a file is genuinely too large for where it's going, not as a routine step.
What happens to my PDF?
It's sent to our server to compress, processed in a private temporary folder that's deleted the moment your download is ready — nothing is stored.
