Frequently asked questions
- Can any PDF reach 100 KB?
- No, and it's worth knowing before you try. A text-only document of a few pages will get there comfortably. A scanned PDF — where every page is really a photograph — often cannot reach 100 KB without the pages becoming hard to read. If the result looks rough, the file needed a larger target.
- Why do so many forms demand 100 KB?
- It's a long-standing default on visa applications, government portals and university systems, set when bandwidth was scarce. It's the tightest target here, which is why it's also the one most likely to visibly degrade a scan.
- Will the text still be selectable?
- Yes. Only the images inside the PDF are compressed — the text layer is left intact, so you can still search and copy from the document. That's true at every target, but it matters most here, where compression is at its most aggressive.
- What happens to my PDF?
- It's sent to our server to compress, processed in a private temporary folder that's deleted the moment your download is ready — nothing is stored.
