- Why convert JPG to WebP?
- At the same visual quality WebP files are usually around 25–35% smaller than JPG. On a web page full of photographs that adds up quickly, and page speed affects both how visitors experience your site and how search engines assess it.
- How much smaller will the file be?
- It depends on the picture. Photographs with lots of smooth gradient — skies, skin, blurred backgrounds — compress especially well. Busy, highly detailed images save less. The converter shows the before and after size for every file, so you can see the actual result rather than guess.
- When should I keep the JPG?
- If the image is going into an older application, a print workflow, or an upload form that predates WebP, stay with JPG — it is still the most universally accepted photographic format. WebP is the better choice when the destination is a website or a modern app.
